Images of the cutaway scroll engraving by Les Jones also showing various design features of the actions

The sidelocks are hand detachable and the internal mechanism is gold plated for corrosion resistance and looks. The finish is polished silver all over with gold inlaid 1's and 2's.

The top lever has a slight bend to the right for comfort in use, specified by the owner when he commissioned the pair in 1975.

The breech of the barrels are scroll engraved with pyramids and the top rib is file cut to act as a sighting rib. The 25" barrels are widened at the muzzle to produce a similar point of aim to 28" barrels.

Gold inlaid "SAFE" with auto return,
intercepting sears on the H&H style sidelocks,
crisp trigger pulls and auto ejectors using the proven
"Southgate" system with a self opening mechanism based on
barrel mounted coil spring system used by H&H makes this
pair a joy to use. They are made to the highest specification.

Click on this thumbnail image to see a large photograph of the right hand side of one of the pair. It shows the shaping of the triggers and guard in addition to the fine detail of the engraving.

To the left we show detail of the forend fancy tailpiece and Anson push rod.  Prior to silver polishing during finishing all of the action components were colour case hardened using the traditional bone charcoal method as handed down to Robin Brown by the late Ted Stokes. He was trained by Billy Woodward and later worked for Century Polishing of Birmingham.
